About the Cast

Saluting the fated members of the 27 Club are Australian rock icons Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus) and Kevin Mitchell (Jebediah, Bob Evans) with Adelaide favourites Carla Lippis (Mondo Psycho), Dusty Lee Stephensen (Wanderers) delivering music's greatest setlist. ‘Come as you are’ to this celebration of the legends who will forever be 27 and the legacy they left behind.

  • Sarah McLeod is a founding member of the 3-time ARIA-award winning band The Superjesus.

With a successful career spanning over two decades, Sarah is an inductee into the South Australian Music Hall Of Fame, releasing three albums with The Superjesus and three solo albums. Over recent years, Mcleod has expanded her creative enterprises to include treading the boards in Green Day’s critically acclaimed American Idiot alongside Grinspoon’s Phil Jamieson and Magic Dirt’s Adalita. In 2022 Sarah embarked on a national tour with Shake & Stir’s powerful adaptation of Jane Eyre. McLeod composed the soundtrack, performing it live on stage, whilst embodying a host of dark and diverse characters. Sarah is an ambassador for both Brick Lane Brewery and the Airlie Beach Festival of Music. With her indefatigable energy and raw talent, Sarah is known for her irreverent, charismatic, punch-to-the-face stage presence– a worthy successor to the rock idols she pays homage to throughout 27 Club.

  • Kevin Mitchell, known also by solo stage name Bob Evans, is a founding member of rock outfit Jebediah, who released five studio albums between 1997 and 2011, the first three of which entered the top ten on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Mitchell’s pop-folk solo career as Bob Evans allowed him to step away from Jebediah’s heavier rock, using a pseudonym as “a way to be incognito, to separate [him]self from Jebediah”, releasing six solo albums between 1999 and 2016. In 2009, Mitchell’s third album Goodnight, Bull Creek! was nominated for Best Adult Contemporary Album, while Mitchell himself was nominated for Best Male Artist. Other releases include 2016 Car Boot Sale, 2019 Full Circle, 2019 Suburban Songbook vinyl release and 2021 Tomorrowland, as well as his producing his hit podcast Good Evans, It’s a Bobcast! between 2016 and 2021.

Mitchell has contributed on creative collaborations with some of the biggest names in music, including his work with Basement Birds, a side-project band featuring Josh Pyke, Kavyen Temperley of Eskimo Joe, and Steve Parkin.

  • Carla Lippis is a live grenade with lungs– dubbed ‘the Satanic Liza Minelli’, her relentless vocal power grinds audiences everywhere into a state of submissive worship.

In a career ranging from singing in sequins to nightclub crowds in London’s West End, to touring Europe fronting the cinematic sounds of Italian post-folk group Sacri Cuori, Carla has performed, collaborated and shared the stage with the likes of Calexico, Marc Ribot (right hand guitarist for Mr Tom Waits), She & Him’s M. Ward and ex-Bad Seed Hugo Race. She has released music in a range of guises from the alt-country ballads of ‘The Martial Hearts’ to the minimalist punk riffs of ‘The Rules’, or the 60s Italian pop of ‘Baby Carla.’

  • Dusty Lee Stephensen is an icon of the Adelaide live-music scene, frontman of the soulful rock outfit Wanderers in which he has collaborated with drummer Matt Birkin since their meeting in 2014. The pair have spent years establishing themselves as crowd favourites across Adelaide music venues, known for the captivating live presence and world-class musicianship that earned them SA’s Best Blues/Roots band late in 2017.

The band’s self-titled debut EP was released in January 2022, amalgamating the best of several genres– think funky guitars, meet soul, meet dubious disco? – tied together with catchy hooks and big choruses.
